Played an hour of the Outliers: Incrementum Demo and it clicked right away. Soft tutorial drops you straight into the mechanics. You are Boris and the Hand at the same time. Enter a room and your character vanishes into the floor, replaced by that spinning multi-blade weapon from the movie Krull. It gets mean once you start upgrading it.
The little yellow magic icon with the exclamation mark points you at new elements, though it is easy to miss. Wish it flashed. There are dialogue spots that feel a bit like a visual novel with response choices, but it is mild. Same for any dating vibe with the NPCs. I skipped a lot of the text at first and later wished the game had narration because some of it is involved.
It plays like a roguelike except your character moves itself. Skill tree has nothing pointless in it. Unlock the run stats early so you can reach the bestiary behind it. The bestiary tracks the extra exp you get when you fight a monster again, which helps you clear them faster. Looks grindy on paper but never feels that way.
Ran the whole session on Linux with no special settings. Full recommend.

• Soft tutorial jumps you into combat and progression immediately
• Dual character setup: Boris and the Hand, with the Krull-style weapon taking over in rooms
• Magic icon guides new elements (hard to spot)
• Bestiary and run stats make re-fights more rewarding
• Dialogue choices exist but stay light
• Smooth on Linux, zero grind feel despite the incremental loop
